Yes, the theme song from "Welcome Back, Cotter" is floating through my head, and now it is in yours, too. It replaces The Might Be Giant's "Here Come the ABC's" which has been floating in my head for freaking days, so at least its something new.
Yes! We are here! The house is great, walls are being painted and carpet is being cleaned and bugs are being murdered and crabgrass is being watered. Hopefully later in the week the guy with the high-end chemicals will come and spray and then the freshly watered crabgrass will also be murdered (HA - PSYCH on you, crabgrass!), giving room for real grass to actually grow, and be watered, like in normal lawns in the suburbs.
Our flight in was fine, they boys got many happy returns on the matching shirts they wore which both stated "Its my brother's fault". They are both beginning to see this thing that mommy does where she makes them wear matching clothes gets you some rockin attention from good strangers, especially the hotties walking around hotels and airports.
Trip made the drive from San Diego to Kansas in about 32 hours total. 12 hours of driving each day, and one night of sleeping in a walk-up motel in Grand Junction, Colorado, in a tiny room next to a pack of wild Harley Davidson bikers who dragged the sofas out to the sidewalk and had an all night party. Although he says they were nice bikers, probably weekenders, not Hell's Angels or anything, so their party was mostly drinking beer and talking about their bikes. Apparently Trip now knows more about the engine of a Harley than is necessary for someone who will never get one.
My niece is beautiful, and I spent the first 4 hours of my evening here at mom's house holding her. I maybe had to be forced to give her back to her momma. She is happy and sweet and warm, and no I don't want one for keeps, I just want to hold one sometimes. Really, as often as possible, especially when she is sleeping. My mom is prepared to fight me for her, however. The boys love her too and want to hold her every chance they get. She got a hold of Will's ear last night and PULLED and TWISTED IT practically off his head, and I thought he was going to scream but he just laughed and let her do it again. It was very funny.
So, the truck should be here with our stuff in a few more days. Will update then, but so far, here are a few things I have noticed about being back in Kansas.
I had forgotten how much I loved Super Walmart.
Its HOTTTTTTT. And very humid.
Also, my allergies kicked in so hard this morning I have been through most of a new box of Kleenex, even after taking my meds. Welcome Back!
